Getting There

Travel & Border Crossing

Documents you'll need

  • Passport book or passport card (US citizens) — required both directions at a land crossing.
  • FMM (Mexico tourist permit) — free for stays of 7 days or less. Get it free online at inm.gob.mx or at the border. An immigration officer must stamp it.
  • Children under 16 can use a US birth certificate (original or copy) for the return crossing.

If you're driving yourself

  • Mexican auto insurance is required by law — US policies don't count. Buy a short-term tourist policy from Baja Bound, Sanborn's, or Lewis & Lewis.
  • • No vehicle permit (TIP) needed — Baja is a hassle-free zone.
  • • Take the toll road (Cuota / Mex 1D) from Tijuana to Ensenada for the fastest route. Your toll receipt includes limited insurance while you're on the road, but it does not replace your mandatory liability policy.
  • • Return via San Ysidro or Otay Mesa — check live wait times at bwt.cbp.gov before picking.

If you're taking the group shuttle

You still need your own passport (book or card) and FMM. The shuttle handles the vehicle side of things. We'll confirm pickup details closer to the date.

Special cases — DACA recipients, dual citizens, green card holders, and passport renewals in progress all have specific requirements. Reach out if you have questions.

The Easy Option

Group Transportation

We're arranging a round-trip shuttle from the San Diego border so you can relax, enjoy the day, and skip the drive both ways.

Meet at border lot

1:30 PM

Exact lot location will be shared closer to the date.

Shuttle departs

2:00 PM (sharp)

Please be on the bus by 2:00 — we can't wait for late arrivals.

Return shuttle

~9:30 PM

Departs the venue shortly after the farewell.

Back at your car

~11:30 PM

Approximate — actual time depends on border wait that night.

Driving or Staying Over

Getting Around the Valle

If you're driving yourself or staying overnight, plan ahead: Uber and Lyft don't reliably operate in Valle de Guadalupe. DiDi works in parts of the area but is hit-or-miss. The best bet is to arrange a private driver in advance — especially for the ride home after the wedding.

Recommended drivers & tour services

Ruta del Vino Tours

Valle-based; top-ranked on Tripadvisor with a documented track record handling 100+ guest weddings across multiple hotels. From ~$130 USD per group.

Baja Society Tours

San Diego–based, door-to-door wedding shuttle service with their own fleet (sedans to mini coaches). All-inclusive pricing: $319 sedan up to $699 mini coach roundtrip.

Ensenada Excursions and Tours

Best for hourly hire if you want a driver to bounce between wineries. 8-hour blocks from $187 (car) to $587 (minibus). Bilingual.

Ask your hotel

Most boutique hotels in the Valle (Bruma, Encuentro Guadalupe, Cuatro Cuatros, Adobe Guadalupe, Hacienda Guadalupe, etc.) can arrange transport for guests directly. When you book, ask the concierge about wedding-day pickup and return from Imanha — it's often the simplest option.

One important tip: book your return ride from Imanha before the wedding day. The Valle quiets down late at night and it can be hard to find a driver on short notice.

Where to Stay

Accommodations

Our Top Pick

Eliá Hotel Boutique

Right next door to Imanha and our recommended place to stay for the weekend. Eliá has 13 villas in three sizes — from cozy 2-person villas to a family villa that sleeps 10 — with a total capacity of about 40–42 guests.

Book ASAP. Eliá is only holding our block of 13 villas through mid-June — first come, first served. After that, unbooked villas go back to the general public during peak vendimia (harvest) season.

Good to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the dress code?

Black Tie is the vibe — but please don't feel obligated to buy anything new. Any formal dress or suit you already have works perfectly.

Are kids welcome?

Our venue is best suited for an adult celebration, so we're kindly asking that little ones stay home if possible. We hope this gives our parent guests a chance to relax and enjoy the evening with us.

What time should I arrive?

Ceremony starts at 4:30 PM. Please plan to arrive 15-20 minutes early to find your seat.

What will the weather be like?

September in the Valle is typically warm during the day and cool in the evenings. A light layer for after sunset is a good idea.

Do I need to speak Spanish?

No — staff at the venue and most restaurants in the area speak English. A few words of Spanish are always appreciated though!

Do I need to bring pesos?

Most wineries, restaurants, and the venue accept US dollars and credit cards. Having a small amount of pesos on hand is useful for tips and small purchases.

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes — Imanha has on-site parking. If you're taking the group shuttle, parking isn't a concern.

What if I can't make the RSVP deadline?

Please reach out to us directly as soon as you can so we can do our best to accommodate you.

We can't wait to celebrate with you in the Valle.
